Why the Scale Stopped Moving

A plateau at month four is expected, not a failure. Understanding which kind you are facing determines whether the fix is patience or a dose change.

Almost everyone stalls. It usually arrives somewhere between month three and month five, and it is the point where most people abandon a plan that was working.

Your maintenance calories fell

A smaller body burns fewer calories. Lose 25 pounds and daily energy needs drop by roughly 200 to 300 calories. The intake that produced steady loss in month one is closer to maintenance by month four.

Adaptive changes compound it

Beyond the size change, the body reduces non-exercise movement and slightly improves metabolic efficiency. It is not sabotage, it is regulation, and it is a normal part of the process.

What actually restarts progress

  • Recheck intake honestly for a week, since portions drift upward without notice.
  • Add resistance training if you have not, to protect the lean mass that sets your floor.
  • Discuss a dose adjustment with your clinician rather than adjusting on your own.
  • Look at sleep, which affects appetite hormones more than most people expect.
A plateau that lasts three weeks is noise. One that lasts two months at a stable dose is a signal worth acting on.
